Top 5 NBA players who wore the number 23

For more than 60 years the NBA has seen many players use the number 23. Notable players include Marcus Camby, Jason Richardson, Cedric Ceballos, Mark Aguirre, Draymond Green to name a few. We have listed the top 5 players who have worn the number here they are:

Starting the list at no. 5, no. 23 for the St. Louis / Atlanta Hawks, Louis Clyde Hudson.

Lou Hudson better known as "Sweet Lou" due to his jump shot was drafted 4th overall during the 1966 NBA draft by the Sr. Louis Hawks. This 6 time NBA all star was synonymous with the no. 23 before some bald guy from Chicago took it from him. Fortunately for him the Hawks retired his jersey before any other player from the team can use it.

At no. 4, wearing no. 23 for the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Marshon Davis Jr.

The 1st pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, Davis debut season was somewhat of a disappointment. He played only 64 games due to injuries and resulted to losing the Rookie of the year honors to the Blazers' Damian Lillard. However, his next two seasons was a great he led the NBA in blocks both seasons. In 2015 he was chosen as part of the All NBA 1st team. If the NBA gives awards for 2nd years he would easily win the Sophomore of the Year award. Recently he signed the richest contract in NBA history, a whopping 5-year $145 Million contract. More than enough to trim his trademark unibrow.

No. 3 on the list is Calvin Jerome Murphy Played his entire NBA career wearing no. 23 for the Houston Rockets,

Calvin Murphy was the 18th pick in the 2nd round of the 1970 NBA Draft of the team then known as the San Diego Rockets. During his career he average 17.9 points, 4.4 Assists, and 1.5 Steals. His illustrious College career where he average 33.1 points (48.9 points during his freshman year) and his trademark suits was enough to merit his induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

No. 2 on our list, Wearing no. 23 for the Cleveland Cavaliers Lebron Raymone James.

As of 2015 Lebron's Accomplishment includes 2 Championships (wearing #6), 4 MVPs, 2 Finals MVPs, 11x All Star Selection, 2 All Star game MVPs, 11 All NBA Teams Selection, 5 All Defensive 1st team selection, 2 All Defensive 2nd team selection and a partridge in a pear tree.

The wonder kid from Akron, Ohio Lebron was the most sought after player in the 2003 NBA draft. Drafted 1st overal l by the Cleveland Cavaliers Lebron immediately made impact during his 1st year in the league. He scored 25 points on his very first NBA game (the most by a prep to pro) against the Sacramento Kings. He was the youngest player to score more than 40 in a game. He won Rookie of the year that season defeating other rookies such as Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade. After failing to win championship for his team, Lebron in an unpopular move (well, in the eyes of Cleveland fans and its owner) took his talent to south beach to form the "Miami's big three" along with his fellow 2003 draft alumnus Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. The big three went to the NBA Finals 4 straight finals winning two of them.

Drafted 3rd overall in arguably the best draft year ever 1985, Michael Jeffrey Jordan wore number 23 during his entire career. Well, except for the time his jersey was stolen in Orlando on 1990 that he was forced to wear no. 12 and his failed attempt to comeback from his 1st retirement which he wore no. 45 (I believe that NBA deleted this from their record books).

During his career his accomplishment includes 6 championships, 5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVPs, 3x All Star MVPs, 14x All Star selection, 11x All NBA Team selection, 1x Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the year (1985), 2x Slam Dunk Champion, All time playoffs leading scorer, 2x Olympic Gold Medal Winner, and serenaded by Mariah Carey (when she was still hot) during his final season. The list goes on and on for not only the greatest basketball player who wore number 23 (sorry Lebron) but probably the best player ever period.
